I have a 16 year old maltese that belonged to mom who passed away three years ago. Our dog Puff wakes up every night at 3:00 a.m. barking. The worse is when I leave the house. She will not stop barking until I return. My family goes nuts. We are worried because we are driving to Florida for 10 days. We are staying in a pet friendly condo. We are afraid of being asked to leave. We do not know what to do. We are praying that the walls are thick. She also has dimentia.

My husband rescued a 4 year old poodle off of the streets a few weeks ago. During the day, she is wonderful. She is very sweet. She sits in my lap, she licks me etc. However, at night, she barks, growls, and runs at me if I come anywhere near my husband, especially if he is asleep. However, if he works late, she is fine with me at night. If I am already in the room when he falls asleep, she is fine with me, but she gets upset if I leave and then come back in. I thought that it had something to do with the room, but she has also barked and growled at me at night for walking up to him when he is in the kitchen.(She does not seem to mind the other animals coming up to him) When he is not home, she will bark at visitors coming up to me, but again, only at night.

There is nothing more annoying than a dog that will not stop barking. The god thing is that it can be overcome. All you need to have is the right instructions of how to quiet your dog. Ideally the only time you want a dog to bark is if the is an unannounced visitor, once you have your dog responding only then you will have a much happier home.

My lab will only barking whenever someone is not in the room with her and since we both work it is hard for that to be accomplished. Also when she is locked in her kennel for the night she goes absolutely berserk. She isn't potty trained so she has to spend the night in the kennel but we cannot sleep with her barking and yipping 4-5 hours a night. I am contemplating a barking collar but am unsure if i want to subdue to that level. I have tried rocks in a can and the water bottle. Nothing seems to work. If you could give some tips or your training program that would be greatly appreciated.

My neighbor has two boxers that do nothing but bark all day long. Any time I set foot in my yard, they are barking at me, like they want to tear out my throat.

The thing is, they are actually nice dogs. I think that if I just spent some time visiting them every day over the fence, they'd stop.
